Welcome to London’s Stories – a site dedicated to the thoughts, likes, dislikes and quirks of the people who live in London.
What’s it all about?
Although I have been known to pick up the occasional showbiz magazine and waste time reading about celebrities, after a year or so writing about them I came to the realisation that it’s just not that interesting.
Here we are spending our hard-earned money reading about people who we don’t know and who we are never likely to meet.
I realised that, for me, the people around me are way more interesting – the 7 million people who make up the city that we know and love. The people who we travel to work with each and every day but never strike up conversation with, the people that drive the night buses, work in the shops, those you pass when jogging round the park or the person who chases after you after you drop your Oyster card.
These are the people that I am interested in learning about – the people who contribute towards making London one of the most exciting, multi-cultural and vibrant cities in the world.
After churning out yet another story about a celeb who had done something unremarkable, it dawned on me that I would much rather spend my time reading about the people around me, people who live everyday lives and who have normal families, normal jobs, normal hopes and dreams and normal ideas about what happiness is.
This site is a way of getting to know the people around you and to hopefully make people see that you don’t have to be famous to be interesting. I want to learn about Londoners; how they came to live in the city, what makes them laugh and cry. What’s their story?
Everyone has a story…why not tell me yours?
